Our History

A Legacy Built on Aviation Excellence

Flight One Group’s history is deeply rooted in Australian aviation, bringing together decades of expertise across pilot training, aircraft engineering, maintenance, and FBO services. It all began with Flight One, founded in 2008 and built on a foundation of charter and pilot training. Our oldest incorporation began as Gold Coast Flying Centre, a pioneering flight school that evolved into Australian Wings Academy (AWA)—a highly regarded pilot training institution producing airline-ready graduates for over 40 years.

Meanwhile, ICAT (International College of Aviation Training) was shaping the future of aircraft engineering, later merging with Flight One to expand its training capabilities. These foundations set the stage for Flight One Academy, an industry-focused education provider that continues to train pilots and engineers to the highest standards. Today these collectively form our training arm.

Unifying Industry-Leading Maintenance & Support

Flight One Group’s expertise extends beyond training, with a strong presence in aircraft maintenance and avionics. Pulse Aero, Flight Maintenance Australia (FMA), and Quality Avionics—each respected names in aircraft servicing—came together under the Flight One banner, forming a powerhouse in general aviation maintenance.
